Run a padel tournament, without the group chat about courts
You lay out your categories and share the link. Pairs enter themselves and confirm each other, so you chase nobody. The draw is made against the courts you actually have that day, and the table is right without anyone keeping it.
What makes a padel tournament its own thing
Padel makes three demands most software does not know about. Here is how PlayTour handles them.
The entry is a pair, not a person
Men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed are ready as events. You sign up, name who you are playing with, and your partner gets a link to confirm. If the event fills up, the pair moves to the waiting list as one.
- Men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed
- Your partner confirms themselves, you chase nobody
- Its own entry fee and its own number of places per event
- A waiting list per event, with the pair on a single line
The table is right before the courts are empty
Best of three sets is the default, and almost nobody uses it on a tournament day. Short sets to four games, the golden point at deuce, the Star Point after three deuces, or simply playing to the clock and counting games: you choose per event.
- Best of three sets, or short sets to four games
- Golden point at deuce, or the Star Point after three deuces
- Play to the clock and keep counting games
- Set scores entered courtside, the table keeps up
You know up front when you finish
You tick the courts that are in play and the hours they are free. The schedule stays inside that, and if you try to fit in more pairs than the day holds you hear about it before you publish rather than on the morning itself.
- A court selection per event, stage or round
- Several venues inside one tournament
- Clashes flagged before the schedule goes out
- Every pair sees court, time and opponent on their phone
Organising a padel tournament, from empty screen to full courts
Entries, the draw and the playing schedule sit in one system, so your padel tournament is ready to share as soon as the categories are in.
- 1
Lay out your events
A price, a number of places and a closing date for each. Splitting by level means making men's doubles twice and limiting each one to its level.
- 2
Share the link and let the pairs come in
Your tournament is listed on PlayTour, or stays behind the link if it is a members-only club event. Collecting entry fees online is coming soon; until then you take the money the way your club does now.
- 3
Draw and schedule
Pick pools, a bracket, or pools followed by a knockout. Press draw and the schedule appears, with courts and playing times inside the hours you gave it.
- 4
Play and close
Set scores go in courtside. Winners move up on their own, the pool table is right while play continues, and the final standings are done when the last match is.
Padel tournament questions
For players
I have no partner yet, can I still enter?+
That is up to the organiser. Padel events are doubles events, so a pair has to stand in the end. Some clubs open an event where you enter alone and they match you up; at others you enter once you have found somebody. The tournament page says which it is.
My partner has not confirmed, have I lost the place?+
Your entry sits at "pending" until your partner confirms. They get a link of their own for that. If the closing date passes without a confirmation the place lapses, so a nudge is fair game.
When do I find out which court I am on?+
As soon as the organiser has drawn and published the schedule, usually shortly after entries close. You then see the court, the time and your opponents per match, and you are told if anything changes.
For the committee
Can I run men's, women's and mixed on one day?+
Yes. Those are three events inside the same tournament, each with its own price, capacity, format and court allocation. The schedule keeps them out of each other’s way, so nobody is due on two courts at once.
We play the golden point, does the system know that?+
It does, and not as a note in a field: the golden point at deuce and the Star Point after three deuces are both real formats. The desk picks one per event, and every score is checked against it.
How many courts do I need for an afternoon?+
PlayTour works that out rather than asking you to. You state which courts you have and between which hours, and when you schedule you see whether the plan fits. If it does not, you shorten the format, for instance to short sets to four games.
